2020 was a year of total craziness. We survived,,,,,, Lets face it the moose have definitely got something right, they live in the sticks. Yah, they got ticks, but they live in the sticks. We strived last year to keep up with all of the recommendations for cleaning, mask wearing and social distancing - yes ONE MOOSE APART. THIS YEAR - we are happy to say that as of May 24th - the rules have changed for those who have been vaccinated! Anyone who has been vaccinated does
It has been a while since I have posted in the blog. I was reviewing my logs and pictures this morning. It was an amazing Memorial Day weekend last year! The fish were biting like crazy and we were completely booked up. These pictures were of the fish they kept for eating, there were a lot of fish released not in these pictures. These were all half day fishing trips. Can you imagine if they would have been a full day trip, there were some tired arms at the end of the
It seems like fall has quickly left and this clean blanket of white has replaced the colorful leaves. We have been working on getting all of our Ice Fishing Gear out and ready. Saying that there is snow excites me a bit, however, we need some better ice conditions and snow conditions for the season to begin. This last week we were able to spend a little time in the back woods, watching moose which is one of the things that we love to do and were blessed with being able to
One of the greatest moments, is when you are standing looking at a pond and you are so enthralled in its beauty and all of the surroundings, birds chirping, bugs skirting the waters edge, a few may flies landing, your whole day prior seems to have just disappeared and you are in the here and now. Kind of in a momentary fairy tale scene, and all of a sudden you are pulled out of your daze, by the sound of water movement to look up and see, something as majestic as the moose.
Family Trips are probably one of my most enjoyable trips. Sharing the beauty of the Greater Moosehead Area. Getting them out on the water for fishing, taking time out on the beach for play, and getting out and seeing the wildlife. It is such an amazing area and so much to do. All of our Fishing Charter slots are available for Family Outing slots and they can be specialized for your family needs. If you just want to cruise around/see the sights/stop at a few islands.....
The start of our busy season is here. So Amber and I decided that we would spend one more day to ourselves trucking around in the woods. We left the house at about 6am and didn't get home until right after dark. To even begin to explain what an exceptional day that we had, well there just is no words. It was pretty warm yesterday, and well we thought maybe we might find some moose on the ponds. We saw everything but moose and we did the best to catch it on video. On ou
Father's Day is coming..... Reflecting a little today. I have an awesome dad.... pretty sure if the myth was right about grey hairs, I am responsible for every last one he has. He should've had permanent whiplash, for every time he has to shake his head. My dad has been an excellent role model in many ways over the years, leading by example. He has worked hard every day of his life even in retirement. He definitely treats others exactly how he would want to be treated, even w
Sometimes there is no way to even describe the beauty in the Moosehead Area, pictures do not always do it justice as well. However, you look at it though, this area is truly beautiful and there are moose to be found. Just wanted to share from a couple outings this week. #moose, #mooseheadareaguideservice, #greenvillemaine, #outdoors, #beauty, #wildlifetours
I have been thinking lately, what makes Moosehead Area Guide Service any different from the other guide services. Well, I cannot speak for the other guide services in how they do their business, what they offer, or even how passionate they are about what they do. I can only speak for myself. I love Maine, I'm a true outdoors man in every sense. I spend all of my time either on the open water, the ice, or back in the woods seeking out adventures. My life pretty much re
Most recent trips on the water!!!!! Fishing is a tricky thing. I wish every fishing trip was over the top, but its just not so. Water temperatures, feed, depth, location, so many variables, make for very different fishing experiences. Every trip is unique, every fish is different, each individual is different, but my goal is always the same, to share my love of fishing with others. Every trip that yields more than a couple fish is a great trip, memories and moments are w
This is recouping our last 26 hours. Well yesterday being Mother's Day it was only fitting to take Amber out for an evening ride. I have to say what started out as a slow evening became amazing rather quickly. We were seeing lots of traces of Moose and Amber said: "7:10 Moose Prime Time" best be watching now.... I chuckled,,,,,,, We were fortunate enough to see 8 moose in a two hour trip, 3 porcupines, bunnies, partridge and 5 deer. The first two porcupines climbed t
The last two weeks have been amazing in more ways than I count. With many thanks to my parents, Harold and Patty King for spending two weeks with us. They came out from Michigan and have been working side by side with us from morning till night on our renovations. Just a few little touches left and we will have it ready for rent in a week or so! The last few nights of my parents visit we had the opportunity to ride the back roads in search for some animals. We were so ver
So many of you have been wondering what exactly is happening with the restaurant, AKA, "The Kraken". First I want to thank all of you that supported our first year, it was greatly appreciated. So here it is, I am remodeling the restaurant into two weekly rentals. I originally purchased the restaurant for a location for my guide business, but I thought, hmm,,,,maybe I should open the restaurant and do both. Though the restaurant did exceptionally well its first year, it li
